Isabel Manalo

Currently making work inspired by the ancient art of Filipino tatooing. The codes and symbols include the pre-colonial alphabet called the Baybayin as well as contemporary codes found in maps and social media. A suite of paintings from this series was exhibited at the Hilbertraum in Berlin. A full solo exhibition will feature more mix-media works in November 2015 at the Stony Brook University in Long Island's Paul Zuccaire Gallery.
